EDPILs has been set up as a central platform for you to easily access your departments' Patient Information Leaflets (PILs). No more running around looking for those out-of-stock paper leaflets! From here you can print the leaflets as a booklet or send them directly to your patient digitally (QR code, text or email), with an optional personalised discharge note. We are also very grateful to host a growing number of advice leaflets drawing on the expertise of various charities across the UK. These are fantastic resources to send to your patients on discharge from the ED. 

When you send a leaflet by text or email, patient contact details and message content are processed securely through Wix, our website host, and Twilio, our cloud communications provider. Both platforms are committed to full GDPR compliance. Any personal data collected will be used solely for the secure delivery of a Patient Information Leaflet and will not be shared with any third party or used for any other purpose. Before using this function, please ensure that the patient has given verbal consent for their details to be processed securely in this way.

In order to help standardise the provision of Patient Information Leaflets, and reduce duplication of effort across UK hospitals, Emergency Department Online Leaflets are also being created using large language models (LLMs) to synthesise publicly available NHS leaflets into a single, standardised version. Each of these leaflets have undergone clinical review to ensure accuracy and clarity. Individual departments should undertake their own review of the content before use.
